3D Modelling
Why is this Important?
3d modelling is essential to 3d printing, but it doesn't end there. 3D modeling also plays a crucial role in industries such as video game development, architecture, and engineering. Being able to design and visualize complex structures in a digital environment allows for more efficient and accurate production. Additionally, the skills learned through 3D modeling can translate to other fields, such as animation and graphic design. It is a valuable tool for both professionals and hobbyists alike, with endless possibilities for creation and innovation.
What I use
Mainly, I use Blender and Fusion 360. These programs have allowed me to create intricate and complex designs, from functional parts to artistic pieces. Whether I'm working on a personal project or collaborating with others, 3D modeling has opened up a world of creative possibilities for me.
Blender is a free and open-source 3D creation software that is widely used for modeling, animation, and rendering. It is known for its robust set of features and tools, including an extensive library of modifiers, procedural modeling capabilities, and a powerful particle system. It also has a thriving community of users who contribute to the development of the software through plugins and add-ons. Blender is especially useful for creating organic shapes and textures, such as characters, animals, and landscapes.
Fusion 360, on the other hand, is a professional-grade 3D CAD software that is used for product design, engineering, and manufacturing. It is known for its parametric modeling capabilities, which allow me to make changes to their models easily and efficiently. It also has a built-in simulation and analysis tools, which can be used to test and optimize designs before they are produced. Fusion 360 is particularly useful for creating precise and complex geometric shapes, such as mechanical parts, industrial components, and architectural models. I mainly use Fusion 360 for models I 3D print.
Some of My Blender Projects
Søborg Chair Oak - Fredericia
This is a tutorial I followed by Blender Guru on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf2esGA7vCc&list=PLGxQHIZUvoZvJEXRP3v0UPZNrwHpZYSgn)
This was a good advanced introduction to Blender after modelling a donut on one of Blender Guru's other tutorials. In this project we covered proper modelling techniques such as proper topology and organiziation along with UV unwrapping.
Here is the final render made by me:
San Francisco Muni
This was one of my first large scale projects I did by myself. This project taught me a lot, especially finding solutions when there wasn't a clear path.
